Prahelika - Important Instructions

Dear Prahelika Participant,

Thanks for registering for Prahelika-the Quiz. Please read the instructions carefully

1. You will receive the questions at sharp 10 PM. It will be an email with the link to questions file.
2. Mail will also have the link of the form where you need to write the answers and submit by 10.30 PM or before.
3. This is not strictly a business quiz. Think general.
4. There will be no choices, you have to write the correct answers. No negative marking.
5. Look for (mis) directions in the questions as a key to answer. Hints will be cryptic.
6. In case of a tie answers to the Questions 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 24 will be considered to break the tie.
7. In case of further tie, time of giving response will be considered.
8. Organizers decision is final and binding.
9. Results will be uploaded and mailed on 9th March.

Warren Buffett probably the greatest fundamentalist ever walked on the earth, amidst the presence of fanciful trading softwares and trading gurus he has gone on to become the second richest person in the entire Solar System.

Now it’s your turn to test the waters, punt on your thinking cap, think Buffet like or for that matter may be even better it, showcase your stock picking ability to the entire B school community.

Do you have it in you to be a fundamentalist? If you feel so then SHARE BAZAR invites you to submit a Equity Research report giving a long term outlook with a final recommendation of ‘Buy’ or ‘Sell’

Event Details

Participants are required to submit and present equity research reports and give a recommendation on One stock, keeping in mind a long term perspective. The stock would be allotted to each participant from one of the sectors that they choose from the list provided in the annexure. Participants are free to choose whether their company’s prospects are bullish or bearish. The event provides participants with the challenging task of understanding the complex process and techniques of valuations, compare the stocks vis-à-vis the market and other comparable stocks and making related buy, hold or sell recommendations.


SECTOR SELECTION AND SCRIP ALLOCATION

A list of 7 sectors, with each sector comprising of 3 stocks would be provided to you, you have to select One stock and submit a synopsis of not more then 500 words by date 8 March 2010.

If your entry is selected then you would be required to make a presentation of the same in front of the faculty members and judges from the industry. A total of 10 participants would be selected.

EVALUATION PARAMETERS

• A Thorough analysis of the sector and the stock
• Culmination of the report into a buy or sell decision
• Thorough Reasons for the decision
• Thorough understanding and discussion of the techniques used in evaluation
• Presentation skills
• Handling of Q&A from the judges
• Genuineness of the report

REPORT FORMAT

1. The maximum word limit for the report is 500 words (excluding annexure and glossary).
2. The report should be in Times New Roman, size 12 and 1.5 line spacing.
3. The title page / cover page shall carry the College Name, Team Name, Name and Contact Details of Team Members and the Scrip Name.
4. Apart from this there shall be no revelation of the name of the participants, logo or any symbol of the institute in the entire report.
5. All excel sheets to be emailed across along with the entry


SUBMISSION OF SYNOPSIS

1. Send the complete Synopsis to ShareBazar@mfc.edu.
1. The soft copy of the reports can be submitted in either PDF or .doc format.
2. The subject of the mail as well as the file name of the attachment should be as – Team Name_College Name_Scrip_name
3. All material submitted in this competition will become the property of MFC,DFS,DU.
4. Entries will be judged by senior executives from the industry and eminent faculty members.
5. Decisions of the judges and organizers in all matters will be final and binding.

FINAL PRESENTATION

Final PPT presentation would be made in front of judges on the ‘Arvneeti’ day
13March 2010 . Presentation time would be 10 min . Overshooting time limit would attract negative marking. Questions would be asked by the judges based on your presentation.

RULES FOR PARTICIPANTS

1. Event is open to MBA students from all B Schools / Corporates / Undergraduate Colleges across India.
2. Each team should be composed of maximum 2 members all from the same B School.
3. No person can be a member of more than one team.
4. Once a team has been registered, no change in the team composition will be entertained.
5. One team can not send more than one research report. However, there is no restriction on the number of teams participating from an Institute

Railway sleeper fare would be refunded for outstation participants.


IMPORTANT DATES

Registration open: 1st March 2010
Registration closes: 7th March 2010 (midnight)
Submission of Synopsis: 8th March 2010 (midnight)
Announcement of shortlist: 9th March 2010 (midnight)
Final Presentation: 13th March 2010

PRIZES:

1st Prize: Rs 5000
2nd Prize: Rs 3000
Certificates would be awarded to all participants.
